The state finals competition takes place in Albuquerque each year. Finals consists of two rounds among all teams. Each team generally presents one side of the case (prosecution/plaintiff or defense) Friday afternoon and then presents the other side on Saturday morning.

At the conclusion of the two rounds, the top two teams meet in a championship round. The results are calculated and awards are presented to the top three teams.  Individual  awards are also given to any student who is selected by a judging panel as an outstanding witness or attorney.

A summary of the final results and copies of official ballots are distributed at the conclusion of the awards banquet and dance, which is held that evening.
